Depression refers to the sadness of emotions in the field of psychology. You must have often seen that many people have met you saying that they are feeling sad or feeling low.
This can be known as Depression. This is, you can say, the start of thinking negative. And the word negativity is the main cause of depression.
What is depression-

These two types of depressions are unique to females-
1) Postpartum depression
2) Premenstrual dysphoric disorder

Risk factors for depression–
Any one can get affected with depression. Small things or incidents which are not very important can also shoot up depression in many.

It is genetic. In a family, if one brother is suffering from depression it is 70 percent sure that the second brother will also suffer from it.
But it is not confirmed that if any of your relative suffers from depression,you will suffer too. Your life style , eating habits can change the trends.
If a person is in fear or in low self esteem , this can be a cause of depression as he can not handle the burden .

It can occur with bipolar disorder and with major depression.It is a common feature of hypomania.
